Swing Unlimited Big Band was founded in 2001 with the primary aim of providing opportunities for local musicians to play the widest possible range of "Big Band" music. Naturally following on from this was the desire to perform this music, bringing pleasure to local audiences. As a non-profit, community organisation, SUBB has also always endeavoured to use its "art" to help support local charities and good causes in the local community, and in this sense we have long represented the concept of the "Big Society" -

• local musicians getting together voluntarily for their own enjoyment and musical fulfilment
• performing for and entertaining local audiences
• supporting and fund-raising for local good causes & charities

The SUBB Group consists of an ever increasing number of bands, each having a slightly different flavour and character. The Group brings together best musicians from across the south coast to perform in a variety of styles with the aims of:

• Giving local musicians the opportunity to play great music together
• Producing a fantastic live sound using the talents and characters within the Group
• Creating exciting live shows, performing music sources from the world of jazz
• Paying tribute to the great jazz music of the past as well as the modern era
